SOIL TREATMENT – Good Earthing

Soil treatment for good earthing is a positive technique of improving the resistance of earth electrodes, especially when the hard underlying rock is incapable of accommodating deeper soil rows.
The resistance of the electrode mainly comprises of resistance of the electrode itself and the soil resistivity. However, soil resistivity wields the major influence.
The technology to achieve good earthing mainly depends on the Backfill Compound, as it influences the critical area around the electrode as mentioned in IEEE 142. For greater degree of performance, IEEE/BS Standards recommend ground enhancement material or conductive concrete with very low resistivity to be used around the electrode.
Treating an area of around 75 to 100 mm surrounding the electrode with Ground Enhancement Materials with very low resistivity reduces the earth resistance significantly, usually by 25 to 50 percent, according to Indian and international standards.
The carbon-based special backfill compounds used in JEF's solution do not rely on moisture for conduction and are very stable over a long period. Hence JEF ECO-SAFE Grounding System is truly MAINTENANCE FREE.
