Wind turbines require coordinated lightning and surge protection because of their height and concentration of electrical and electronic systems. IEC 61400-24 provides the basis referenced by the article. Protection can include LPZ concepts, shielding and bonding, global earthing, and coordinated SPDs for power, data and communication lines.
IEC 61400-24; IS 3043 latest edition is referenced for global earthing. Verify current editions, system voltage, earthing arrangement and SPD parameters for the actual turbine installation.
